Overview

What is it?

Astro is a no-code DAO creation platform. Astro allows DAO members to create & vote on proposals, set bounties, and manage a treasury. Astro sets up the DAO on the NEAR blockchain, which has interoperability and bridges to other L1 blockchains.

What problem does it solve?

Removes technical limitations and makes it easy to set up the framework of a DAO. Non-crypto-natives can use Astro’s platform to form a DAO in just a few clicks.

How does it work?

  • Create a NEAR wallet and connect it to the Astro app, and create a new DAO.
  • Choose the type of organization you are starting: Foundation, Club, Corporation or Cooperative.
  • Choose settings for the Structure, Voting Power and Proposal of the DAO.
  • Choose a Name for the DAO and then pay a small fee in NEAR to  Launch the DAO.

How do I use it?

DAO Masters Insights

Why it's cool:

Astro is onboarding web2 foundations, corporations, clubs, collectives, cooperatives, among other groups, to use their platform to create DAOs for collaborative governance, decision-making, and funding. While understanding crypto and blockchain technology is helpful, it is not essential when forming a DAO with Astro.

Challenges:

Astro was built to work natively on the NEAR blockchain. While NEAR is bridged to other L1 blockchains, organizations that wish to operate their DAO smoothly with other blockchains may find Astro limiting.

Words of advice:

Astro is an excellent tool for people with very limited DAO and crypto experience who want to use a DAO structure for a group, organization, or business to make decisions and manage a shared treasury.

Expected future updates:

Continued integration to other tools and ecosystems.
